Dr. Abhinav Mathur

Founder Director

Abhinav Mathur is the Founder and Chairman of Million Sparks Foundation (MSF).

He worked for twenty-four years in leadership roles in large Multi National Corporations. He ran cutting edge innovative global businesses in areas such as Mobility, Telecommunications, Financial Technology, Entertainment, Health Care and Education. He has co-founded Million Sparks Foundation in 2015 to give back to society by contributing to the Education Space. Abhinav is a PhD from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, an MBA from Indian Institute of Management Lucknow, and Bachelors in Engineering from NSIT Delhi.

Abhinav has setup several startups as a part of one of the world’s first technology incubators. He serves on the board of several high growth companies, advises startups for growth, and is an avid angel investor.

Dr. Mona Mathur

Founder CEO

Mona Mathur is the Founder and CEO of Million Sparks Foundation (MSF).

Mona is extremely passionate educationist and has been teaching for the past 29 years at both the K12 and Engineering Levels. She continues to be an adjunct faculty at Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. While working with STMicroelectronics in their Advanced Systems Technology Group, she led their industry academia partnership initiative to setup a joint research lab at IIT Delhi. Mona is a PhD in the area of Neuro Computing and Machine Learning, Masters in Technology from IIT Delhi, and Bachelors in Engineering from NSIT Delhi.

Mona has advised and contributed to several startups and non-profit organization in the area of Education.

Pankaj Agarwal

Pankaj leads the technical development and server management efforts at MSF and in a nut shell is the hardcore technical guy.

He has an experience with various technologies and feels very strongly about the work he puts in. He has vast amount of experience in the Internet and Telecom domain, and has worked on open sourced SIP Stacks, Rating, Billing and Mediation, Customer On boarding & Management. His exposure to multiple technologies includes various client side technologies, server side technologies, database management systems, operating systems.

Pankaj has worked for organizations like Ascent Telecom & Spice Labs. At Spice Labs he was exposed to Mobile handset application development.Pankaj is an MCA from MJP Rohilkhand University and has 13 years of experience.

Jeetendra Singh

‘JS’ (as Jeetendra is fondly called) has deep and extensive knowledge of developing and scaling mission critical products and services. He is contributing his time and energy to improve the architecture of the platforms being built by the Million Sparks Foundation. He is passionate about the User Experience and keeps a keen eye on the ChalkLit users feedbacks.

JS had been initially focused in domains such as VAS, Telecom and Lawful Interception of Networks. For the last few years, he has been actively involved in the mobile apps and e-commerce space. Apart from co-founding a startup, he is also an independent technology consultant helping a few startups realize their product vision through technology.

An avid sportsman and a spontaneous traveller, he loves pushing boundaries ‘in the field’ or ‘on the road’.

He is a computer engineering graduate from PEC University of Technology.

Namrata Saxena

Namrata is heading the Human Resource and also handling administration, accounts, purchase and inventory at Million Sparks Foundation.

She is a triple masters, Masters in English literature, Masters in History, Masters in Business Administration and also LLB. She has studied Human Psychology, Industrial Psychology, and Child Psychology during her graduation that gave her the insight to understand and analyse human behaviour.

With 8 years of work experience in hiring for the positions like VP, CFO, CTO, AVP, Managers for India and for overseas. She has also worked as Training Head (internal and external trainings).

She has participated in several National Social Service & NCC Camps. She enjoys interacting with different people and diligently offers a helping hand to the people in need.

Vani Thakur

Vani works in managing the user Engagement and experience and Teacher Training of Million Sparks Foundation. She is a Applied Computer Science graduate from Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College, Delhi University. She was a fellow at Gandhi Fellowship Program (2012-14) batch. She has worked closely with the headmasters of 5 rural government schools in Khetri, Rajasthan.

After completing her fellowship, she has worked with a social start-up Avanti Learning Centres Pvt. Ltd., working on the model of flipped classroom. Having realised that the struggle is not limited to students’ scholastic concepts but also on their level of grit and perseverance, she has started to engage closely with teachers as the agent of change.

She envisions a space where students not only develops cognitive skills but also gets the opportunity to hone their non-cognitive skills.

When she is not talking to users, she likes to make people laugh with her daily life stories.

Anchra Madan

As a relationship manager, Anchra works on increasing training coverage across cities at Million Sparks Foundation. As a member of the outreach team, she is also responsible for improving training efficacy, execution and all-round user experience.

A former fellow at the Teach for India, Anchra has extensive experience in student and teacher capacity building and has, in the past, worked with the Delhi government to improve the quality of teaching in government schools.

In her free time, Anchra enjoys sports. She is a corporate level football and squash player, and has also successfully organized and coached girls sporting teams at a government school.

Prahlad Chakma

Prahlad Chakma has gained considerable work experience in Education by working with Teach For India in Delhi and Pearson Education in Bangalore. While he was in Teach For India he founded Teenage Footprints which works on the Character Development of Teenage students through fun-filled retreats. In Bangalore he has helped Maitreya Charitable Trust, a Taiwan based NGO to set up their processes and to create livelihood unit for the organisation.

Prior to his joining at MSF, he was the Editor cum Director at the Eastern Today, an English Daily newspaper which circulates in three states of Northeast India. He is passionate working for the uplifting of Northeast India.

Outside works, he loves a good game of cricket and works for his community development in varied capacities.

Srimoyee Das

Srimoyee Das works in managing content and programs of Million Sparks Foundation. She received her Masters in Sociology (MA) from jadavpur University and Bachelor's from Presidency College, Kolkata. She was a fellow at Gandhi Fellowship Program (2011-2013 batch). After successfully completing the fellowship, she has worked with Muktangan engaged in evolving quality child-centered teacher education, and also with Antarang Foundation in Mumbai, for empowering youth with employability skills. She was a Research Associate and was a part of a research project titled 'Social Inclusion through Digital Inclusion' at IIM Calcutta, where her stint with technology in education started.

With around 5 years of work experience in the social development sector, Srimoyee has spent most of her time in delving deeper into problems of education and working towards solving the same. When not busy in dealing with problems, she will either make the self-proclaimed best coffee or do Origami!

Rituparna Das

Rituparna works in managing the English content at Million Sparks Foundation. She is a History Postgraduate from University of Calcutta and has done her Graduation in History & English from Presidency College, Kolkata. Prior to joining Million Sparks Foundation, she was working in a low-income private school in Mumbai, as a Teach For India fellow (2015-2017). There she taught English and Social Studies to 80 children in grades 5th and 6th. She has also worked as a Research Intern at the department of Public Policy and Management, IIM Calcutta and written a paper on the the Right to Education Act’s impact on low-income private schools in the country.

As a Teach For India fellow, she has always tried to incorporate technology in her classroom while continuously updating her own teaching skills. Her experiences have made her realize the need of an excellent teacher in every classroom and is towards providing the same. In her free time, she loves doodling and force feeding her friends, just to show off her culinary prowess!

Sugandha Verma

Sugandha works in managing the Science content at Million Sparks Foundation. She is an Engineer by qualification and has done her Bachelor of technology (IT) from Dehradun Institute of Technology. After which she worked in Infosys for nearly two years. However, she was always aware of the deteriorating quality of education in the country and that is how she joined the development sector. Prior to joining Million Sparks Foundation she was working as a Teach For India fellow (2015-2017) in Delhi.

When she is not explaining or deconstructing scientific concepts, she likes to read and has a knack for writing.

Prakash Shukla

Prakash’s immense love for Maths brings out the best in his role as Mathematics Content Specialist at Million Sparks Foundation. Prakash is an Engineer and has done masters in Development Studies from Tata Institute Social Sciences. His data analysis skills has contributed to various projects such as Multidimensional Child Poverty Index for India, Dynamic Linkages between Capital Flows, Exchange Rates and Economics Growth in India, Financial Autonomy of Women in Indian Households etc.

Working in Breakthrough Science Society was turning point for Prakash when he realized the lack of resources and competent teaching capacity in the schools.

He looks at education as the only means to come out of the poverty trap. And Prakash is highly guided by the belief that “every student deserves to be taught by a great teacher”.

Varsha Gupta

Varsha works as a content specialist in Mathematics at Million Sparks Foundation. She has received her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Miranda House, Delhi University and Masters of Arts in Education from Azim Premji University, Bangalore.

Prior joining MSF she has worked with Vidya Bhawan Education Resource Center, Udaipur, where she was involved in content development & facilitation for children as well as teachers, for multiple state level content.

She has also effectively mentored Gandhi Fellows and managed government schools as a Program Leader in Kaivalya Education Foundation, Jhunjhunu.

When she is not curating a chapter, she reads books on philosophy, Novels and loves to travel.

Shubham Chauhan

Shubham Chauhan is an engineer who is passionate about creating new apps. He is a firm believer in power of firm technology and it's pivotal role in making life eaiser. In his spare time he loves playing lawn tennis.

Anish Kumar

Anish is a computer science graduate from NIT Agartala with prior experience in software development at Intellect Design Arena Ltd. He is a web developer at Million Sparks Foundation and loves coding.

Anubha Gupta

Anubha works as the solutions-focused QA analyst at Million Sparks Foundation. With her experience in automation experience, and proficiency in Selenium and Jira tool sets, she serves as a key member of software development team.

In her spare time, she loves taking pictures, travelling and enjoys playing Table Tennis and Badminton.

She also spends time volunteering for social cause including feeding and distributing gift and toys during Diwali to homeless. She feels such activities have contributed greatly to her life and well being.

Anmol Bharaj

Anmol is a final-year student at the Delhi Technological University pursuing Bachelors in Mathematics and Computing Engineering. He brings with himself a younger perspective, for engagement in technical and content development routines. Besides loving all things Maths-related, Anmol also loves to play Basketball, listen to music and stuff himself with food, though not at the same time.
